Federal Funding - Title VI Information

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that “No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” The City of Edgewood assures that no person shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any City- sponsored program or activity on the grounds of race, color, or national origin as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 (P.L.100.259).

The City of Edgewood further assures every effort will be made to ensure nondiscrimination in all of its programs and activities, whether those programs and activities are federally funded or not. See our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion page for more information.

Complaints

Any person or group who believes they were discriminated against based on race, color, or national origin in programs, services, or activities where there is federal assistance may file a Title VI complaint. A complaint must be filed no later than 180 days after the date of the last instance of alleged discrimination.
