1. Are there other locations in the city that staff / Council sees as issues to address?

Following the City’s annual Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP), here is a summary of priority locations on the horizon:

• Intersection of 32nd St E / Meridian Ave E (SR-161) – Access Control
• Emerald St E / Meridian Ave E (SR-161) – Signal Improvements
• Meridian Ave E (SR-161) from 24th St E to 36th St E – Preliminary Corridor Design
• Chrisella Rd E from 36th St E to 48th St E – Safety Improvements (Grant Funded)
• Chrisella Rd E from 48th St E to Railroad – Roadway Improvements (Future Grant)
• Edgewood Dr E from 48th St E to Sumner Heights Dr E (south of 56th St E) – Roadway Improvements (Future Grant)
• Interurban Trail Connection from 114th Ave E to West Valley Hwy (Future Grant)

2. Looking at other future routes “off the hill”, what is the current status?

The City did amend the Comprehensive Plan in 2020 (see https://arcg.is/0Dn05S0 for a map) that identified three new potential routes (2 to the south, 1 to the east). Staff is working with developers on the south side to ensure the right-of-way for those routes is set aside, and no work has occurred on the east side to date.

3. For projects on Meridian (SR-161), are the costs on the City or is WSDOT going to participate?

It is up to the State Legislature to set the biennial budget for WSDOT. At this time, there are no WSDOT funds identified toward any sites in Edgewood for the City’s six-year planning horizon.

4. What can be done about parking along 110th Ave E (between 24th St E and 32nd St E), a narrow roadway with narrow right-of-way?

Edgewood Municipal Code (EMC) Chapter 10.12 regulates parking in public right-of-way. EMC 10.12.020(D) requires the paved roadway surface to remain clear (minimum 20-foot width), 10.12.020(G) prohibits RV’s, 10.12.020(J) limits parking to 48 consecutive hours, and 10.12.020(L) requires mailboxes to be accessible from 8am to 6pm.
